The short version

The sound of your instrument never leaves your device. Until you buy the app it shows an ad banner from Google AdMob, and Google collects what an ad needs.

Microphone

The app asks for microphone access because a tuner has to hear the instrument. The audio is analysed on your device, frame by frame, to work out the pitch and draw the spectrum. Each frame is discarded as soon as the next one arrives.

Audio is never recorded to a file, never stored, and never sent anywhere, including to the ad network.

What is stored on your device

What you set up yourself: your instruments and their tunings, the tunings you write, your metronome presets, and your settings. Two things the app keeps for you: how many seconds you practise each day, counted while the metronome or the practice timer runs or while the tuner hears a note, and your best score in the chord game. They are numbers, never sound. They live in the app's own folder and are removed when you delete the app.

If you are signed in to iCloud, the same things are kept in your iCloud account so that they appear on your other devices. Apple holds them; we never see them.

Sign in with Apple

You may sign in with your Apple Account. Apple gives the app your name and email, or a private relay address if you choose to hide it, and an identifier. They are kept on your device and in your own iCloud account, to show who is signed in on your other devices. We never receive them. Signing out or deleting the account in the app removes them; you can stop the app using your Apple Account in Settings → your name → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple.

Advertising

Until the app is bought, a banner from Google AdMob is shown. Before the first ad you are asked for consent where the law requires it, and iOS asks whether the app may track you. Google may collect a device identifier, advertising data and how you interact with the ad, to show and measure ads. If you decline tracking, the ads are not personalised. Buying the app removes the banner and stops ad requests. Google's policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
